Congratulations on Yung Shin Pharmaceutical for Eraflu (oseltamivir) being adopted by the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Yung Shin Eraflu (oseltamivir) is an influenza antiviral medication. Currently approved by  the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the prevention and treatment of influenza in children and adults, it is available on prescription. It can prevent the spread of the influenza virus, shorten the course of illness, lessen the severity of symptoms, and reduce the severity and mortality of influenza complications. Oseltamivir, the ingredient in Yung Shin Eraflu (oseltamivir), is currently the only oral antiviral influenza drug. In accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, Yung Shin Eraflu (oseltamivir) is a national strategic reserve medicines for pandemic influenza prevention.

Recalling the panic and threat posed by the novel coronavirus pandemic to the international community and Taiwan recenty, the only antiviral drug available to combat the novel coronavirus was far from sufficient to maintain domestic reserves. Due to Taiwan's unique international predicament, and to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the government even considered initiating an emergency order to compel the original manufacturer to grant its patent to Taiwan. This year, Yung Shin Pharmaceutical launched the influenza antiviral drug, Eraflu (oseltamivir), becoming the first and only generic drug in Taiwan after the original patent owner's launch of Tamiflu (oseltamivir) 17 years ago (licensing received in August, 2001)

For patients eligible for publicly funded medication, the Centers for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Welfare, has added Eraflu® Capsules to its list of publicly funded medications starting September 13th of this year. However, because Eraflu® is not covered by National Health Insurance, non-high-risk influenza patients  not eligible for publicly funded medication will still need to purchase Eraflu (oseltamivir) at their own expense.

Yung Shiin Pharmaceutical boasts over sixty years of pharmaceutical expertise, producing pharmaceuticals compliant with the highest international standards and exporting drugs to the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Yung Shin Pharmaceutical's collaboration with the CDC to supply Eraflu (oseltamivir) to medical institutions throughout Taiwan reaffirms Yung Shin Pharmaceutical's manufacturing quality and R&D capabilities. Once an epidemic strikes, the threat to life and economic damage far outweighs the damage caused by war. Therefore, Yung Shin Pharmaceutical shoulders the responsibility of epidemic prevention and works alongside the CDC to safeguard the health of all Taiwan people.
